Who is Canine Behavior Clinic?

The Canine Behavior Clinic was founded by Jerry Hope, CDBC.  Since it’s conception in the mid-1980’s,   Jerry has been involved in solving complex behavior problems in dogs.  Jerry has been training dogs professionally since 1975 and has more than 30 years experience including a formal education in the area of psychology and an in-depth understanding of learning theory,  Jerry is perfectly suited to handle your dogs every behavioral concern.  Whether it is a simple manners issue, competition obedience training or a complicated aggression issue, the Canine Behavior Clinic is the answer.  The "client-centered" approach of Canine Behavior Clinic takes each individual dog/family problem and the living conditions accompanying the problem and develops a custom plan accordingly. People from all over the Untied States have trusted Jerry to solve a range of behavior problems.  Additionally, Jerry has titled dogs in obedience, agility, tracking and personal protection.  He has competed in several different countries and under many different organizations giving him a total understanding of the competition dog.

We pride ourselves on our ability to maintain a positive approach while working with dogs of all breeds and backgrounds, no matter what the problem.  We currently advise several rescue groups on solving behavior issues in rescued dogs.  Furthermore, many breeders use our services when evaluating breeding stock for temperament and working ability prior to breeding as well as evaluating puppies prior to being placed in their homes.

CBC will work along side your veterinarian in solving all behavior issues.   With many issues CBC may require a complete physical examination by your veterinarian prior to formulating a plan for success.  This partnership has proven to provide the best possible chance for your dog’s complete success.

In addition to providing the highest caliber training and behavior consultations, CBC also handles dogs at conformation shows held by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the International All Breed Canine Association (IABCA), and the National Canine Association (NCA).  CBC students routinely compete in AKC obedience trials and NVBK-America Trials (Belgian Ring Sport), Iron Dog, and many, many other performance events.  We have students and affiliates that are currently nationally ranked in many of these organizations.

Our training methods are very simple:  we use the method best suited for your dog.  Any trainer that subscribes to only one method of training limits his success.  We believe in using the dog's natural drives to accomplish the desired training.  This allows us to keep the training positive during the entire learning phase.

Although we specialize in complex behavior issues, we offer a wide range of obedience classes, from basic puppy manners to pet obedience, all the way through competition obedience.  We also teach agility, tracking, and protection.  So, whether you just want to make your little buddy a better companion, or want to be a contender in one of the toughest dog sport in the world, we are the facility for you.
